Weekend Sous Chef

Sous Chef wanted for gorgeous Café in the heart of Surrey.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Culinary Execution:

Assist the head chef in executing the culinary vision, ensuring all dishes meet the established standards.

2. Recipe Preparation:

Oversee and participate in the preparation of dishes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to recipes.

3. Workflow Coordination:

Coordinate kitchen workflow to ensure efficient and timely food preparation and service.

5. Quality Control:

Conduct quality control assessments during food preparation and service, making adjustments as needed.

6. Inventory Management:

Assist in managing kitchen inventory and updating Head Chef on ingredient levels.

7. Health and Safety Compliance:

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.

8. Culinary Creativity:

Contribute creative ideas to menu development, bringing innovation to the culinary offerings.

14. Adaptability:

Adapt to changing circumstances in the kitchen, making quick and effective decisions.

15. Team Collaboration:

Foster a collaborative and cohesive team environment, promoting open communication among staff.

16. Kitchen Organization:

Maintain organization in the kitchen, optimizing workspace and ensuring efficient equipment usage.

17. Customer Interaction:

Interact with customers when necessary, addressing allergies, enquiries or special requests related to the kitchen.

18. Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in kitchen processes and operations.

19. Compliance:

Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements to the highest standards. See Compliance documents for information and details. If there is any query or concern, this must be raised with a manager immediately.

 

Qualifications:

Previous chef experience is not essential but helpful. Passion and the highest care and attention to detail are important.

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with all customers and create a friendly atmosphere.

Understanding and commitment to the charitable mission, fostering a sense of community in the café.

Food Safety and Hygiene Level 2 would be helpful but not required.
